The Silverton Inn, is a charming little place, good food, clean and spacious room, stayed here a couple of times now on business and when required will be back, only comment would be the shower could have been better ran piping hot or cold and pressure not great, but managed !

My room was lovely, a good size with a large shower room and plenty of space so it was perfect for a 3 night stay. The breakfast was good and I ate in the pub on two of the nights, reasonably priced. There is parking in the village nearby.

Met with a warm welcome, and made to feel right at home. The staff are of the highest standard in everything they do. Rooms are fantastic, bed was like lying on a cloud, possibly the best nights sleep I've had away from home. Evening menu has a full and varied selection, cooked to a a very high standard. Breakfast just the way it should be "perfect".Shame I was only one night. I will be returning when anywhere near Exeter

Cannot fault the Silverton Inn. I arrived late after work and was sent an email with instructions of how to get in if the bar was closed. My room was very comfortable and everything was very well thought out. Would definitely stay again if I was in the area and highly recommend. Thank you!

I chose the smallest room for one person. It was a very good size (almost big enough for 2 but I appreciate why they have said for one person). Everything in the room was thought out - even a jug of water.Very good tea facilities. The shower was great and the room was well looked after. The breakfast was very good and generally the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. I needed to check in late and they were very accommodating with that.It was a very lucky, happy find for a business trip to Barnstaple and Exeter.

Beautiful village location, quiet, plenty of parking. Friendly village. Nicer pub to drink and dine in than the Silveryon just a 2 minute walk, but the bed and service was frirndly, clean and good value. I fined at the Silverton on the tuesday curry night. It was heavy, and I slept poorly as a result of indigestion, please less oil.

Nice, clean accomodation. Breakfast very nice. Staff very pleasant and welcoming. Thank you 'Daisy'.The only complaint would be the evening meal, ordered the 8oz Steak (most expensive on the menu) the meal,I felt, was small (13 chips) it was nice but certainly did not fill me up. I seldom have a dessert but ordered one because I was still hungry. I don't know if it was because I was one of the first orders? But i noticed the meals that were served later seemed bigger portions but all plates seemed to go back scraped clean. Other than that a pleasant stay. Thank you

I was only staying one night and very glad I booked a bed here. The room was immaculate, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.I had dinner here and the food was top-notch.Be warned though the locals are very friendly! I promised myself to only have one bottle of local cider this turned into three and exchanges of life stories and humorous stories until late in the evening. My only gripes are terrible parking in the village anywhere near the inn and lots of stairs to the rooms, neither if which although annoying would not deter me from staying here again if having to be in the area.In short, a great inn, very hospitable staff, immaculate rooms and public areas, good homemade food, highly recommend.

Second time staying at the Silverton Inn, spotlessly clean room with a big comfy bed and an en suite dressing room. Friendly and helpful staff and a tasty breakfast. I only wish we’d had time to spend an evening in the bar as the menu looked great and the atmosphere was very welcoming. If you’re visiting Exeter or the surrounding area I’d 100% recommend staying at the Silverton Inn.

The inn was a lovely place to stay, in a very characterful and tranquil little village. Our rooms were perfect, and we had everything we needed, though next time we would have gone for room 5 or 6 as a couple, due to our room being one of the smaller ones. Just to get a bit more space for our many bags! Price was really good especially with breakfast included. Nice evening meals and cosy bar looked after by the very friendly Daisy. What’s not to like! Thoroughly recommended.

A typical village pub with delightful staff, good and very reasonably priced food and an extremely comfortable room. The whole pub was spotlessly clean and well cared for, and in the centre of a pretty and interesting village. No parking at the pub but plenty on the road outside or very close at the village hall.

Overnight stay with evening meal and breakfast. Room was a tad small, but it was spotless and had everything we needed. Comfy bed. Good hot shower. Biscuits with the tea and coffee and bottled water. Thankfully the room had a fan,as it was a warm night. Evening meal was superb pub food, couldn’t fault it. Good value too. The best thing was the staff! So friendly and helpful. The young lad doing the breakfast had a big smile for us and accommodated us, as we needed to be out to a convention quite early, Sunday morning. Well done Silverton Inn!

We stayed at the Silverton Inn for 4 nights - friendly greeting, comfortable spacious room which was immaculately clean. Staff were all really pleasant and interested in what we were doing every day. The pub is a mixture of a local's place plus a good venue for an evening meal , we ate their three times - all the food was excellent plus they have a proper vegetarian menu with no plant based heavily processed pretend meat stuff. Breakfasts were super. There is no car park but there is safe parking within easy access. We will definitely go there again.

The inside of the Inn was a very pleasant surprise to the ordinary exterior. Our room was large and beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed. Our meals were most enjoyable and individually prepared. For us the highlight was the friendly and helpful staff. The only downside was difficulty in car parking which seemed to be for all the village. We would undoubtedly return.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The village is sweet, calm and picturesque. There is one shop for any bits you need. Just be aware the pub underneath the rooms doesnt open until 5 for food so theres one pub further down that does food from 12.

A very comfortable, clean and spacious room with all facilities (tea, coffee and water and an iron and ironing board) and very quiet. The owner left clear instructions for arrival and was extremely friendly and hospitable. Sadly I had to leave early so I didn’t get to enjoy what looked like a delicious breakfast.

Very pleased with our stay - very relaxing peaceful surroundings and excellent friendly service and beautiful, immaculate rooms - will definitely be back and already recommended to friends and family. Only one thing that was a disappointment there was no parking so had to try and find a parking space in the nearby street.

We stayed at The Silverton Inn on our way to Cornwall. The room was immaculate in every way; clean and very modern. The bar was open in the evening and served great food between 6-8pm. Breakfast was excellent. We would definitely recommend The Silverton Inn.

As a single female traveller I’m always a little cautious about staying in a new place on my own. I didn’t need to worry when I stayed at the Silverton Inn for three nights . The village of Silverton is small , but has everything you need, including a local shop. Although there isn’t parking on site, there is plenty of parking in the village within walking distance. All the staff at the inn were friendly and courteous. The room was clean and spacious and I was served good quality food at breakfast and when I booked an evening meal. Thank you for a really enjoyable stay 😁

We recently stayed at the Silverton Inn and had a really enjoyable time. Staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had pre ordered a meal but were late arriving and they delayed our service until we were ready. The meal was execellent, room spotless with a very comfy bed. Would definitely recommend this pub.

This was my second stay at the Inn. Bedrooms are accessed by stairs. My room was spacious and quaint, with a modern en suite shower room. Bed and pillows comfortable. I was surprised that, given the age of the building, there were plenty of plug sockets. A fan was very helpful during the heatwave. All the bedrooms have been very recently refurbished.Shane isgreat chef and makes good pub food ...14 of us ate together with no complaints, only praise....and ate there again on the secondnight. Breakfast absolutely delicious.

We were attendinga party in a nearby village so chose the Silverton Inn for convenience and because of good website reviews. Shane was there to welcome us and we were shown to our rooms which were comfortable and very clean. Tea/coffee facilities and ironing board, iron and hairdryer in rooms. Beds also very comfortable which was a big plus. Full cooked breakfast excellent. Wished we could have stayed for an extra night. Would definitely recommend and most definitely stay again.

Not having reviewed the Silverton Inn since our first stay, we thought we ought once again to say how much we appreciate the welcome, the atmosphere, the well-kept beer, the excellent food (and service), and the comfortable room. A couple of different staff members this time, but just as friendly and efficient. Parking, though not on site, is not difficult if you don't mind a short walk (100 yards or less).

I stayed for two nights in a lovely room with great cooked breakfasts each morning. I was there on a Thursday for ‘fish and chip night’- great choice and quiet. The Inn gets busy and loud on a Friday night but this didn’t bother me.Guests have their own entrance to come and go freely, which I valued.Even though there’s no dedicated parking, it is easy at local Spar or on the street.Shane was a cheery host, rightly proud of what they offer.I am returning next Friday!

I got lucky here. I needed to book somewhere for one night at really short notice and although it was well out of my way for my meeting the following day my choice was limited. BUT - I have to say it was brilliant. Absolutely charming and at a very reasonable cost. Tiny issue straightaway was the parking, but I am being picky. There is free parking in a nearby car park, but there is also free parking on the road. I just wasn't able to park as close as I wanted but it would not put me off booking again. The look of the place is a winner, and the bar is cosy, comfortable, well-appointed and well-stocked. It has a beautiful ambience, and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening meal (curry) and the red wine. Although the specials board is extensive, they have different food on certain evenings, and although the food was 'fish & chips' that evening I decided to have curry (the previous nights fare) and it was the best curry I have had in years. The room I had (No.5) was large, clean & comfortable. It was quiet with both an en suite and a separate dressing room. The TV was excellent, the shower fine, and the bed very comfy. However, sometimes you can stay somewhere nice and the host(s) or proprietor is a miserable so and so which can take the enjoyment from the stay, but I was fortunate to have been greeted, shown to my room and my food and drink order taken by Rosie. She was a charming young lady and knew her stuff. In summary, I'd rather not have told others how good this place is for fear of not being able to book in again myself! - however, The Silverton Inn deserve their plaudits and I wish them continued success.

Silverton Inn is set in the village of Silverton close to the M5 travelling via some minor roads. You can park in the free village car park a short walk away or park on the roads outside. The welcome was warm, I was showed to my room and everything was explained. I had room 6 which was superb, well appointed, meticulously clean. The bed was super comfy. There were little extras such as tea, coffee, biscuits and even bottled water. It was a Wednesday evening so it was v quiet. Breakfast was genuinely the best cooked breakfast I have tasted. The quality of the ingredients was second to none. This old Inn in a beautiful village was a real gem of a find and I will return. £45 well spent. Well done

Was working in Exeter on business and didn’t really fancy the city centre on this occasion and found this place on line about 15 minutes drive north. Really quaint lovely little village with thatched roofs everywhere . I was put into room 6 which is probably the best room in the Inn being a quirky in effect 2 room duplex suite over 2 floors. The downstairs was large and well equipped with a comfy king size , desk /dresser and separate table and chair .upstairs was an empty attic room with great views over the village from the big velux. At the end was a very small but perfectly adequate shower room. Breakfast was quality and very tasty . And the 2 evening meals I had in the lively bar downstairs were both well cooked presented and excellent value . All in all a great place to stay especially in the room I had .

From the moment Shane opened the door to check us in, it was obvious this was a friendly place. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. We chose the fish and chip special in the evening and they were the best pub fish and chips we have ever had - in other words, they were done properly. Cheerful service, friendly bar, well kept beer. Cooked English breakfast was another eye-opener, served at table, not from a buffet which we despair about in other places. Two potential downsides are almost negligible: there is no pub car park so you have to park on street or in a public car park not far away. The other, which did not trouble us but might trouble some people, is that the stairs to the rooms are a bit steep and there is no lift. Apart from that, this is A-star stuff. Well done Shane and your team.

We ate in the bar area and an efficient, warm, friendly and cheerful man called Shane (we think he may be the owner) soon brought 2 very generous platefuls of food to us. I had the cod, husband had the steak. Delicious - no room for pudding, although there were delicious ones to choose from. The meals + 2 beers & 2 glasses of wine were super and great value too. The inn is clearly popular with people who live locally and there was a nice friendly atmosphere - people chatted to my husband when he went to the bar for drinks - we felt very welcomed. We had the best sleep ever and in the morning in the bar area, Ella and a lady whose name we didn’t catch made sure we had an excellent breakfast. Great choice- husband said his cooked breakfast was really really good and my fruit juice, yogurt, toast and marmalade was just what I like. This inn is the kind of place you wish was your own ‘local.’ Cosy, friendly, welcoming and with all you need after a weary day. We would definitely return one day. Thank you.

Lovely room with large comfortable bed and a bath and shower. Wall mounted TV with Tea and coffee facilities.Had a great sleep as the area and pub were very quiet.I had a nice meal in the evening and a cooked breakfast in the morning.Shane and his team were very friendly and welcoming. I made a mistake and actually booked for the wrong date but Shane quickly and without any fuss stopped me to the correct date.I would definately stay here again in the future.

We stayed at the Silverton Inn for one night to break our journey down to Cornwall. Had we known what a little gem this place is we would have stayed longer. Our room was comfortable and had all that we needed. We enjoyed a very tasty evening meal which was reasonably priced and a lovely breakfast with good quality, locally sourced ingredients. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming and we will certainly stay here again.

Travelling with my 10 year old daughter, I booked 1 night at the Silverton Inn after a camping holiday, to break up the journey home. The hotel far exceeded our expectations, the room was beautiful, the ceiling was double height with a bathroom area was in a spacious mezzanine area with views of rooftops and rolling hills through a velux window. The room was extremely clean, the beds comfortable and supportive and bedding cosy. We appreciated the complementary tea, coffee and biscuits. The breakfast, was perfectly cooked and very tasty with a generous selection of options offered. We had a wonderful stay in a gorgeous location and would have stayedblonger had I not had work to return to.

The Silverton Inn is a traditional pub well situated in the village centre. My rooms were clean and comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were welcoming and friendly. I stayed as a single female and was treated with courtesy and kindness. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here.

We stayed for two nights whilst attending a family christening locally. It’s a lovely welcoming village pub with very clean and comfortable rooms and bathrooms, stocked with all you need. Good breakfasts cooked to order. Friendly and helpful staff. They don’t have a car park but we found it easy to park close to the pub. Would stay again and recommend it to others.

Very welcoming host and a pleasant, clean comfortable place to stay with characterful features such as sash windows which add to the appeal. The bed was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant is very good and fairly priced. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. An added bonus is the very pretty village where the hotel is situated not far from many attractions that Devon has to offer.

I stayed here as a mid-journey stopover. My room, although small, had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable and the room had a great bathroom too. Breakfast was good and the staff were fantastic throughout and really helpful. The Silverton Inn does not have its own carpark and it took me some time to find a space on the street, which was the only downside. However, that said, I have stayed here before and would certainly stay again, and would happily recommend The Silverton Inn to others.

Stayed with husband for one night at the Silverton Inn on a short trip to Devon, booked on the basis of reasonable prices and good reviews. It is what as it looks on the website. Our room was the smallest and was tiny but comfortable and scrupulously clean. We booked an evening meal, which was delicious, breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend and would come here again.

As a single female , I felt very comfortable dining in the lovely bar area, all the staff were brilliant - friendly and helpful. The room and en-suite were immaculate and very comfortable..in fact the bed was so comfortable, I had to look at the make of the mattress and have now bought one for myself! Would definitely recommend. My only comment regarding the bar area is that the art work isn’t in keeping with the quaint pub...it seems someone has bought just to fill a space on the wall rather than to compliment the type of building it is...just a small point and definitely didn’t detract from the enjoyment of my stay

This is the second time we have stayed here, and it was just as good as the first. The room is lovely, clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything for a stress-free break. The bar food is very good, I can especially recommemd the cod and chips. We deliberately start our stay on a Thursday as it's fish and chip night! The full English breakfast went down a treat too. The staff are all very friendly. All in all a great stay and I'm sure we will be back again.

From the moment we met Sean as he greeted us outside, to the morning we had to reluctantly depart, there was nothing the polite and courteous staff couldn’t do to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The Covid precautions were exemplary, and the bedroom was comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Whilst there, we had three meals; one dinner, and two full English breakfasts. All were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. It was a joy to have stayed there, and we can’t wait to find an excuse to go back! We cannot recommend The Silverton Inn highly enough.

Came to Exeter with my son to a University open day. I needed to change my booking twice, partly as my daughter decided to join us, so needed another bed on the same day we arrived. Also the kitchen closes at 8pm and we arrived slightly later. However nothing was too much trouble for the manger who arranged a very enjoyable stay and even called us on the car phone to ensure we were able to place an order for dinner. The Silverton Inn has a really nice bar with excellent pub food and our full english breakfast was freshly cooked. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. If my son ends up going to Exeter Uni then we will stay here and no need to look elsewhere - very happy customers!!

My room was a good size and very clean; the bed was comfortable. As I was at the front of the Inn there was some noise from people outside the pub but it was quiet after closing time.Gaining access was a little difficult as I tried to check in before 5 and no-one answered the door and the phone number given was busy, so I had to wait about half an hour before I could check in.

A very friendly welcome. Our room was large and very comfortable, immaculately presented and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was yummy. We ate twice in the pub in the evening during our 3 night stay and the bar meals were excellent and great value. Thoroughly recommended.

A gem out in the sticks!V comfortable room and most helpful young man attended to us. Good breakfast tailored to personal choice. Shared bathrooom very clean and tidy - just had to waita couple of times. A little noisy as drinkers left and chatted under our window. A pity food is only served until 8pm, especially on a Friday night in summer when travelling a long way- it looked a great menu. Good value overall!

Small but nice room and modern bathroom. Very quit. English Breakfast prepared as you like it. Restaurant/pub w/ a variety of especially steaks but they have a vegetarian menu as well.To the dartmoor it is a half to one hour drive dependently where you want to go. Two pubs in the village, one supermarket all closed by on the same street. Parking in front of the supermarket, a one minute walk.Last breakfast we had to wait close to an hour for our food but I guess it was a exception.

My self and my sister have always stayed at the Silverton inn as its local to relatives in the area, we always been made very welcome and the owners are so lovely too. The rooms are well turned out and always spotlessly clean the beds are very comfortable and we sleep very well. The breakfast is amazing with a good choice of food and cooked to your liking. In the evening the bar is open and the food menu is top notch and the food is well cooked nicely presented and the service is great too. Its not too noisey either being in a quiet country village, if you get the chance have a good walk about the village and explore the country side the locals are very friendly too.

I come every year to Silverton Inn.It is always friendly, nice comforatble bedrooms and delicious food. It's particularly good to be in a family run hotel rather than a chain. The bar is also frequented by locals so Silverton Inn obviously plays a role in the village. This is good to see and why staying here is excellent.

Stayed one night whilst on business in the area.Congested village but free public parking not too far away. Room was a good size, clean and comfortable. No food after 8pm which I wasn't advised of when booking and had to eat in the other pub in the village. Worth a stay.

Stayed for one night, a Friday. Arrived after a five and half hour drive in horrible weather to a very warm welcome and a lovely clean comfortable room. As the website states there was noise from the bar downstairs but not overly loud or late and didn't impact on my evening. Unfortunately I arrived too late to try the food but the menu looks delicious! Comfortable single bed and clean shared bathroom. Breakfast on the Saturday morning was lovely, polite and helpful staff. Definitely would recommend and will stay again. Thank you.

Lovely rooms above the pub. We had room 2 & 4. One was ensuing & the shower room was super clean.Very little noise from the pub, expected to be kept awake until closing but drifted off to sleep well before closing time.Perfect for visiting Exeter University if you want somewhere cheaper than the town centre.Only negative was lack of alternative to cows milk for breakfast. Felt queasy all day after putting cows milk on my cereal (I know, I know, I should have left the cereal!)

I'm from Surrey and was traveling down to Exeter for work on the Saturday, so all I needed was a clean, comfy, safe space to crash for the night. I had to drive down after work on the Friday at 6pm, so I didn't arrive until nearly 10:30pm. The owner of the Inn said that someone would be there to let me check in late as usual check in is 9pm, so I was very appreciative of that! The pub downstairs was a standard country pub, so I was very impressed when I came upstairs to the guest rooms and it was beautifully decorated, clean, tidy and homey all at once! As I had to leave for work at 7am the next morning and sadly miss the full breakfast on the menu, the owner kindly organised for a self service breakfast station to be left out for me. Even though my stay was short and sweet it was very comfortable and I'm only sad I didn't get to stay and enjoy the food as the menu looks great!! I am only giving a 4 star because I was there for less than 12hrs.

The Silverton Inn sits tight amongst its neighbours on Fore Street and that can be the description of the village. Space is of a premium, with all the cottages cheek to jowel with it's neighbour. But once through the door of the inn you are given a very pleasant English pub atmosphere. Our room was well appointed and lacked for nothing and the food was excellent, both for dinner and breakfast. I wished we could have stayed longer to work our way through the menu.

've just returned from three nights at the Silverton Inn. Shane and his beautiful wife Amanda made me feel welcome straight away. I was informed about various details including wifi codes and places to park. Althought there is no on site parking there is plenty of on street parking close at hand and during my coming and goings I never found it a problem. I was staying on business and had room 4. This was comfortable enough and the compact bathroom had a great shower.I took meals, including the delicious breakfast in the bar. I found all of the staff friendly and helpful and it was good to relax with a few drinks at the bar in the evenings. There is a varied menu and Shane is famous for his pies.Siverton is a small village and it was interesting to meet some of the locals, all of whom were happy to exchange a few words with me, a total stranger. There is a well stocked village shop and a little antique shop which is worth a visit if you can find it open.I did have a little trouble negotiating some of the country lanes since directions on google maps changed every time I made the same journey of six miles. This all added to the charm of my visit. I'm well used to country lanes but round there they are on a whole new level!

The Silverton Inn is a nice place to stay in a quaint village. The staff were pleasant and the bar had a very local feel to it, I had no concerns leaving my phone on the table when I left the room.Food seemed good, though I only had the soup but could have had several bowls.Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable in a reasonable sized room. Being on a quiet road sleep was not an issue for me as it has been in other places I have stayed.Certainly a place I would stay again next time I am in the area.

I have already reviewed the hotel for Trip Advisor. However I can highly recommend The Silverton In in all respects. Although I arrived early the owner allowed me to bring my bags etc to the room so I could relax until the thanksgiving service at thechurch and explore the local area THe room was very comfortable and there was ample tea coffee biscuits etc in the room. THe bathroom had modern fittings. The telly was large screen and easy to operate. The bed was comforatable and gave me uninterrupted sleep so I felt rested in the morning. In the evening there was a curry night and the Tikka Masala was delicious. The owner and staff were courteous and attentive. So in short it was everything you could want in an overnight stay. Therre were two things to be aware of: there is no onsite parking, but I easily found a nearby space in the village. Also, for anyone with walking difficulties, there are steep stairs. However it is a charming old building and this is to be expected.

Great little find. The food was the highlight, great service and very reasonable prices. The room was modern, quirky, clean and the en suite was excellent. However, our only gripe was the length of the bed, because of the odd shape of the room the bed was on the short side - my feet were sticking out the end. Otherwise, a great place to stay. I would definitely use again but avoid the small double.

I had a very comfortable stay at the Inn. The pub/hotel is nestled in a quaint thatched cottage village near Exeter. The room was very comfortable with everything I needed. I was met and shown the workings of the house with key to the entrance and to my room with a code to the street door. Shane was helpful and friendly. I will definitely return

We stayed at the Silverton Inn for 1 night around graduation day at Exeter and it was a great little spot to stay. Pretty village with thatched rooves, very quiet location, great value and very tasty pub grub, clean rooms (with fans - thank you for that!), huge breakfast and friendly staff - would definitely stay here again if down in the area.

Stayed here as a stopover on the way to Cornwall. Was a bit out of Exeter than I thought but well worth it. Room was very nice we had no 7 top floor with ensuite. The breakfast the next day was tasty and all you need to start the day. We ate in the bar on the night. Nice food, good price and plenty of chips!! came with a lovely little mixed side salad too. Book and you wont be disappointed.

We enjoyed a three night stay at the Silverton Inn for a family wedding being held locally. From our initial welcome we felt 'at home' and loved the peaceful, friendly atmosphere created by the owners. The room was clean, comfortable and we had all we required. Breakfasts were hearty and they catered for our g/f and veggie needs! Young members of staff were also polite and well trained. We would highly recommend this b/b to anyone located in a sleepy Devon village full of very friendly inhabitants who all spoke when we met them on the street on our walks. We will return!

The Silverton Inn has been refurbished to a high standard since our stay here a couple of years ago. Our room was newly decorated and spacious and the bed very comfortable. The en suite shower was excellent and we appreciated the tea, coffee and biscuits provided. We had a well cooked and reasonably priced evening meal in the bar and there was plenty of dishes to choose from. Staff were polite and friendly. There is no car park attached to the inn, bur we found parking places about 100 yards away. We had to leave early and missed the cooked breakfast but the management provided cereals, yogurts, fruit juice etc. for anyone in this situation. I would highly recommend this establishment.

We are 4 senior Aussies driving from Bristol to Cornwall and wanted to stay in a typical English Village Pub about half way. The Silverton Inn was the perfect choice. Shane was a great host with great food and excellent clean accommodation. The locals were very friendly and we watched the final of the UEFA League which unfortunately for everyone Liverpool lost. We had a beautiful English breakfast before hitting the road for our next adventure. We would certainly recommend the Silverton Inn!

I booked a number of rooms for my family due to our attendance at a family wedding. The staff were friendly and helpful and the pub itself is worth visiting even if you are not planning on staying. There are a range of options regarding rooms: from a single bedroom sharing a bathroom with other rooms, to larger double with en-suite. It is a pity that not all rooms have ensuite, however it is clear that more accommodation has been made possible by the sharing of bathroom facilities, although this may not be for everyone. Some of the rooms that shared a bathroom did have a sink in the bedroom, which helps to some extent.Rooms are bright, airy and well decorated. They are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and on the first night two bottles of complementary water is also provided. Each room has a flat screen TV. The shower rooms have a hair and body wash and soap tablets, but any further toiletries you would need to bring yourself. I found the bed too soft given back issues that I have, so I didn't sleep particularly well, and although I had a double bed, it was a small double which would be an issue for a couple who are used to having more space.Breakfast is served in the main pub, between 8am and 9am. This short opportunity to eat may not suit people requiring more flexibility. Furthermore, if you are staying in a room which requires you to share a bathroom, you may find that the demand for the bathroom is just before breakfast and hard to access. I allowed my children to use my ensuite to relieve the pressure on the bathroom facilities. The cooked breakfast which is offered is pretty standard, although it did vary from day to day; on the first day I was served more cooked food, but not offered cereal or juices, while on the second day, the portion of cooked food was smaller, but there were juices and cereals on offer. My daughter found a little bit of mould on her toast (she didn't tell me until we had left the pub, so there was no opportunity to mention it and allow the staff the opportunity to rectify this) which put her off the rest of her food, but aside from this, the breakfast was fine. Two of our party were vegetarian, and they too were able to get a full cooked breakfast. The evening meal was well received and the ambience of the pub really shone through. It is clearly popular with the local residents and visitors alike. The food was tasty and a good range is available (less choice for vegetarians, which is something that could perhaps be expanded upon). There is no dedicated parking at the pub, however, immediately over the road there is on-street parking, and just around the corner near the small shops, there is further parking. Silverton is such a small village that anywhere in the centre is going to be close enough, so it isn't a huge issue.Overall I had a good stay, and would be happy to return.

Tasteful rooms. Freshly decorated, Friendly staff. Great steak. Lovely location. No sound proofing between room 3 and the adjacent. Sleep in it yourself if you don't believe me. And why spoil it by pretending that no-one has ever mentioned it before? The soundproofing issue is on trip advisor - posts you have replied to. You know all about it. The rooms would be better reconfigured - lose a room, add ensuits and soundproofing. Obvious. And don't fib!

Let's start with the good:1.Every member of staff I met was extremely nice and I felt very welcome.2. I ate in the bar on "steak night" and had an excellent Steak dinner for just £10.3. Breakfast was very good.4. The real ale in the bar was well kept.5. The room was fairly well appointed and was spotless.I have't given 5 stars because:1.There is no parking at the inn - I had to leave my car on the street in the village (which is a nice place but the streets are VERY narrow). Minor problem for me but it might be an issue for some.2. My room was cold.It was unseasonably chilly for June but there was no central heating and the old school Georgian sash windows have no double glazing.Hence my room was cold all evening/night. The duvet in the room helped.3.The biggest problem though, was the noise. My room faced the street and was above the bar. And it was REALLY noisy. SO much so that I was woken 4 times - which was no fun.For this reason alone, I would not stay at the Inn again. Even though it is a LOVELY spot, if you sleep light, I'd advise you choose somewhere else.

Reviewer: Philip A | Mon 24th Oct 2016 | 7 years ago
The owners try very hard to make their inn inviting and comfortable. And they succeed. The room we had was compact but well laid out. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom en suite meets all needs. A small mishap with a broken shower head (my fault, I dropped it) was fixed by the time we got back from our day's activities. The breakfast included could be any part of and up to a full English so there's a lot of choice plus there was cereal, yogurt, fruit. The inn is open for dinner and the pies are quite good and well-known. The inn is well situated with bus to Exeter. There's a grocery, post office, barber and other shops within a block or so. We would definitely stay here again and hope the owners can make a go of it as inns in smaller villages have a harder time of it. A yeoman effort as they say is being made. And our stay here was very pleasant and enjoyable.

Nice traditional pub in attractive Devon village centre. Warm welcome from proprietors. Friend and I each had a double en-suite. Rooms were of a very good standard and extremely comfortable and furthermore at an affordable, competitive rate. Bar is as you'd expect from a traditional pub. No frills. Convivial with a nice background buzz of conversation from the local regulars lending early evening atmosphere. Food is from conventional pub menu with the usual standards on offer. Nothing sophisticated, but nicely cooked and perfectly adequate and again modestly priced. Does exactly what it says on the tin, to coin a phrase. What's not to like? Couldn't fault it. Recommended.

Perfectly fine but for one thing: it was a warm night and the bed cover was uncomfortably hot, yet we could not do without it as then it was too cool. A choice of bed covers might have helped.

Soft towels and toiletries were provided, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was hearty, smelled and tasted great, and nicely presented, with a good selection of cereals and yoghurts too. Nothing but praise for this friendly B&B kept to a very high standard. Everything a B&B should be. Thank-you for a lovely stay.

Clean room with tea & coffee making facilities. Modern ensuite. Comfortable bed although too hot (it wasn't a lightweight summer duvet!). The late check in worked very well and the entry was well lit, although parking wasn't easy. It was dark, I don't know the area and had to drive around a lot late at night looking for somewhere to park. I found a Spar just down the road and left my car there. English breakfast was a little disappointing; portion size was small (no mushrooms, only half a tomato etc) but what I had was hot and tasty. I would be happy to stay again.

Arrived late, great staff, shown to my room, immaculate with newly refurbished shower room. Brilliant! Only glitch is the room was over the bar which was noisy on a Friday night! That quietened down after 11.30pm however, so all good. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will stay again.

2nd time staying, same room. very good décor, clean except round the old window and dust the clothes rail. food is excellent in the bar (have the steaks). can be a bit noisy when above the bar in opening hours but to be expected. street parking is available you might need to get there early to be close to the inn. only downside was the noise from guests in #2 kept their door open and you could here every movement on the creaking floor boards (old coach house building) sounded like someone was loitering outside your door most of the evening, most annoying. but other than that certainly would stay again if the price is right.

A bit apprehensive about staying in an inn, being that i was travelling solo, but i needn't have worried. My room was lovely. Comfy bed, basin in the room (as it was a shared bathroom for the floor i was on), and tea making facilities. What more could you want?Fabulous shower, incredibly refreshing after a long journey. Breakfast was fantastic, i went for the full english. Had a fantastic night's sleep. The room was warm and cosy despite the horrible weather oitside. The only downside was that the windows sounded as though they were open when a car went past - they weren't, but hey thwy were origknal windows. I would definitely stay thwre again, on my own or with othwrs. Cery handy for central exeter. If travelling there in the dark though sat nav is a must! Lovely people running it, very attentive. We were visiting my family so did not actually spend much time at the inn but will return soon and hope to spend more time there. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at the Silverton Inn for a second time this year. This time for three nights. The Silverton Inn is just that. An Inn ie a pub with accommodation. The rooms are very well appointed.Ours not only had ample room foe a double bed and a single and dressing table side table and bedside cabinets but on a higher level there was also a large dressing room and en suite bathroom. The food served is extremely good pub food. The owner makes his own award winning pies. You really need to try them. The cooked breakfast is really well presented and tasty. The evening meals are nit only of a high standard but very reasonably priced. The staff are welcoming as are the locals in the bar. All in all a wonderful village to visit and a fantastic Inn to stay at. We will return.

A fantastic little B&B that we picked purely because it was half-way between destinations on a drive back to London. Such a lucky find. Lovely accommodation, quiet little town and a excellent breakfast made to order. Building has amazing character.Be aware that the pub portion isn't open on Sundays, but two other local establishments are within 500 meters.

Was very nervous about our stay as had a meal in the pub up the road as the Silverton was closed on the Saturday lunchtime and the landlord and customers were all running it down but I needn't have worried this place is excellent. Parking is not problem as there are lots of places around the village. The rooms are modern and spotlessly clean. We have the top room (room 6) and this room was very large with the shower in the eaves of the roof which made really good use of the space. The bed was really comfortable and it was nice and quiet at night. The full English the next morning was just the right sized portion. The bar has a really good atmosphere in the evenings and the drinks were really reasonably priced. You can tell the staff are hardworking and the owners have got this spot on. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for one night for trip to Exeter.Accommodation was exactly what we asked for and suited us for what we needed.Clean and nicely presented. We had room 6 which had a small mezzanine level which could be used for cots or something. Annoying green light over stairway which presumably is a health and safety matter rather than choice by the owners.

The Silverton Inn was really helpful about checking in after we attended a wedding. The room was perfectly clean and had everything we needed. We just stuck with toast and cereal for breakfast, but it looked like it did a good full English too!

The room, number 5, was large and well-equipped. Bit of noise from above which was a bit annoying. We had dinner on Pie night - excellent, tasty food and good service. Pub closes earlier than expected so need to go through side exit/entrance. Parking is a bit of a pain so drop off heavy luggage first

I managed on this occasion to stay in room 6 even though a single traveller in a family room. Now stayed in all 3 en suite rooms and would rank them as rooms 5, 6 and 7 in that order. Room 6 is enormous on 2 levels, but with only an extremely small bathroom - I am aware that the landlord is proposing to extend into the dressing room area which would in my opinion be highly commended. The hotel was very clean and the food (dinner and breakfast well prepared). I look forward to staying again in the near future.

Weekend stay in Silverton to visit family and stayed at The Silverton Inn on the recommendation of family. The room was modern, beautifully furnished with lots of stylish finish, bathroom spotless and all fittings are gleaming, the bed is very very comfortable. A great deal of effort has gone into this accommodation.Evening spent in the bar which is a typical English pub setting with a good menu served from 6.00p.m.A full English breakfast is served from 8.00 and sets you up for the day.Well worth a visit, it's a great place to stay in the Silverton area.

This is the second time I have stayed at the inn. First time in room 7 and this time in room 5. Room 7 has the better view but room 5 has more space and even its own dressing room. Enjoyed the evening meal in the bar. Note that this is in a village and things end early - evening meal at 8.00pm and last man in the bar at 10.00pm. Would rate the inn very highly, with staff and locals in the village very friendly.

My room was delightful - spacious and elegant and the en-suite had both bath and shower. I was particularly impressed that the proprietors made a special effort to contact me to check that I still wanted to stay on their festival night as it could be noisy. In fact, the event finished bang on time and my room was remarkably quiet.

We booked this as a stop over en route to Fowey to break the journey and without a doubt we will do it again. Travelling on a Thursday meant we avoided the usual horrendous Friday traffic but without a doubt the star was the pub.We had a very friendly welcome and the family room we had was superb. Nicely refurbished with a separate en suite on a kind of mezzanine/second floor above us where the views out of the window were lovely. We ate in the pub when it was pie night and the meal was great and the value even better. If our village pub did meals for these prices we would be out every night.Silverton is a lovely little village and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Made a great start to our holiday and without a doubt we will use it every time we go down to Devon or Cornwall. Thanks for a great stay.

We stayed here for one night to be local for my daughter's graduation the next morning. The bedrooms are lovely with spotless shower rooms. The food is also great, and good value for money, only drawback was that the pub stopped serving food at 8pm. It is in a very quiet small village location which we loved because it was quiet, but there is nothing else nearby without going out in the car. Not a problem for us as we loved the quiet location and would definitely stay here again if we needed to be near Exeter, only a 20 minute drive away. All staff at the Hotel were lovely and friendly too.

The exterior of the Inn and it's setting does not give a particularly positive impression, however it's a different story on the inside.A pleasant bar and well refurbished rooms only topped by the excellent evening meal - make sure you go there on a Thursday night - it's pie day! I can safely assume that the other days' menus are equally as good.Mustn't forget the friendly staff as well.

Great customer service - I ideally wanted 2 ensuite rooms but there was only 1 plus 1 room with a shared bathroom.A few days later the landlord rang to inform us that there was a cancellation of an ensuite and rang to offer it to us.We were warmly greeted.Rooms were very clean with simple amenities, a hearty breakfast was freshly served.

I was greeted with a very warm welcome, and shown to an immaculate room. The food provided in the bar was cooked fresh to order, and I thought good value for money. The full English breakfast in the morning was a perfect start to the day. Thanks for a great stay guys - keep up the good work!

Shane and the whole team at Silverton are so welcoming. The rooms are well appointed and I love the new carpeting. So comfy underfoot. The food is superb and excellent value. Why would you go anywhere else? I will be back again... and again... and again.

Fabulous renovation into a 5 star B&B.Booked a single for one night to see a local friend and was upgraded to a family duplex in great comfort and at no additional cost. There was free WIFI and early self service breakfast. Outstanding and highly recommended.

Predicting a late-night arrival into Exeter on our way to a week-end around Cornwall we really needed a clean, quiet and comfortable inn where to have some rest, a proper shower and some breakfast before hitting it again. The Silverton Inn gave us precisely that, with the greatly appreciated extra-dose of friendliness and hospitality on top.Would definitely return and recommend.

A really nice inn in a very lovely village. The bedrooms we had were very clean and well appointed. Useful tv and free wifi. The cooked breakfast was fab. We had to share a bathroom but that was ok as the room price reflected this. There is no parking at the inn but lots of parking either just adjacent or opposite village shop.If you have time try the walk up to top of hill behind. Fab views.

Lovely room, good food, all at a very affordable price. Good real ale too. All I missed was a shaver socket and light over the mirror when wet shaving. Particularly comfortable bed. Parking in street can be awkward but not worth missing this place for. Most impressed.

I am quite critical but there is very little I can criticise the Silverton Inn for.The room and place was very clean and tidy and the bathroom modern and fresh, and the bed was comfortable. The food was very, very good. especially the peppercorn and steak pie! and on the 'meal deal' night a pint was included for just £6.50! : )The place wasn't empty in the evenings either, (which is good!), and the locals, staff and other guests made for a real pub atmosphere, (but not wild and noisy!).Road link to Exeter was good.Only constructive criticism I would say is that there wasn't any mini shampoo etc in the room, (but there was soap), and no biscuits on the coffee/tea tray on my second day ; )I will book again next time I am working in Exeter. Thanks : )

Have just returned home from my stay at the Silverton Inn. Have to say it was thoroughly enjoyable and would definitely recommend. Had some lovely meals down in the bar in the evenings and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The weather even stayed good until it was time to go home! All in all, restful break and pleasure to stay there. Thank you

Small hotel/pub. Very friendly staff and lovely, well thought out rooms. Great bar and peaceful village location. Would recommend for anyone looking to visit Exeter/Tiverton but with a quieter base.

The family accommodation was very spacious, with lovely furnishings, carpet and décor. Overall it was very tidy and clean with fresh paintwork and spotless tiling in the large bathroom. Bath and shower combo was fantastic. Top value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would totally recommend and would definitely stay again.

What a lovely little inn. Room standard was high and the whole team were very accommodating.Food theme nights were fun, but I wish I had had the curry not the burger.Only gripes, annoying little step in upstairs en-suite, and the fact that the en-suite shower was upstairs in the room!!No bath, and en-suite was quite pokey....., excellent value, would stay again and recommend.

We stayed in a family room which was spacious and even had a separate dressing room. Everything in the room looked brand new so I assume there has been a recent refurbishment. We did not eat dinner at the Inn so can't comment but breakfast was good. Staff were friendly. The only negative is that it is very difficult to get a parking space outside the Inn and the car park is a bit of a trek when pulling luggage in the rain.Otherwise I would wholeheartedly recommend.

Room was clean and tidy, good and varied menu. Owner/chef is always a sign of a good meal.Offroad space for 2 motorcycles was adequate.Only one real ale on tap, other pubs had more. Overall would stay there again, value for money.

We spent 3 enjoyable nights at The Silverton Inn. Our double room was nicely decorated and of adequate size. We never had to wait to use the shared bath in spite of the Inn seeming to be full. There were good choices between cereal and hot breakfasts. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.Overall it was a great value. And we enjoyed the village of Silverton. Staying away from the hub-bub of Exeter was a great idea. The bus into town runs twice an hour.

A lovely place to stay . Room no5, lovely room with ensuite and dressing room. tea/coffee making facilities, spotlessly clean. Breakfast were fab, as was food in evenings,(very reasonably priced ). Very welcoming. Would definitely stay again without doubt. Little further from central Exeter than we thought but wasn't a problem for us.

Great little establishment, helpful staff. We arrived very late and instructions were fab for getting in.Room was large and immaculate.Sadly we couldn't stay for breakfast but we got a warm welcome when we went into breakfast area. The only issue was car parking - tight streets with parking restricted.

What a fantastic place! I only have positive things to say from the wonderful staff (I met Tara, and Owner Shane) to the price (Wow £35 includes an amazing full English breakfast) to the bar environment and hospitality and finally the comfy, clean room and pristine bathroom (this is shared but it was never occupied when I needed it).Strongly recommend. Also for those who don't own a car you can still benefit from the Silverton Inn and all it has to offer.Just get the 55a bus from Exeter Central Bus station!

Most impressed with the comfort of the room, equipment, bed and style of decor.A very pleasant quiet bedroom for my overnight stay.I had an interesting chat with the landlord about the manner in which the licensed trade has changed and the way he has responded positively to presnt day trends.I highly recommend this hostelry.Parking ia a minor problem.
